Twitter has hinted at a new service it is calling @anywhere on Monday at SxSW in what many believe is the company’s attempt at taking on Facebook Connect.

Although Twitter has said that it won’t release further details until its official developer conference in April, that didn’t stop founders Ev Williams ?and Biz Stone spilling some of the beans via the company’s blog and session at the media conference in Austin, Texas.

“We’ve developed a new set of frameworks for adding this Twitter experience anywhere on the web. Soon, sites many of us visit every day will be able to recreate these open, engaging interactions providing a new layer of value for visitors without sending them to Twitter.com,” commented Stone on the company blog.

According to the company, site owners need only “drop in a few lines of javascript” to get the new offering up and running.

Before a world wide web roll out, Twitter will be testing the new system with a number of “big” sites that include Amazon, AdAge, Bing, Citysearch, Digg, eBay, The Huffington Post, Meebo, MSNBC.com, The New York Times, Salesforce.com, Yahoo!, and YouTube.

Stone goes on to say:

“Imagine being able to follow a New York Times journalist directly from her byline, tweet about a video without leaving YouTube, and discover new Twitter accounts while visiting the Yahoo! home page—and that’s just the beginning. Twitter has proven to be compelling in a variety of ways. With @anywhere, web site owners and operators will be able to offer visitors more value with less heavy lifting.?

Expect more details in the middle of April.

HTC?is to release the HTC HD3?according to sources on the internet as its?Windows Phone 7 Series?handset.

Although still in the “concept drawing” stage compared to the real life working model a la the Samsung Slate?and LG panther?handsets, leaked details out of the Far East suggest that HTC’s offering will be the follow up to the HTC HD2?- the HTC HD3.

According to our tipster, who also happens to run his own website, the HTC HD3 will come with a massive 4.5-inch AMOLED screen with 1280?800 resolution, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1080p HD video playback, 720p HD video recording, 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, 4G connectivity for for blisteringly fast downloads that are over ten times as fast as today’s HSDPA phones, 1GB onboard RAM, 1GB onboard, 32GB external memory, 3.5-inch headphone jack, and HDMI output for connecting to your HDTV or monitor.

While the inclusion of all those specs for us is a bit over the top, some if not most of them could be possible.

Qualcomm has confirmed in earlier conversations with Pocket-lint that a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon is possible and on the cards by the end of the year. However it would be the first time HTC rolls out an 8 megapixel camera, instead preferring to opt for 5 megpixels on the latest HTC Legend?and HTC Desire. Windows Phone 7 Series minimum is 5 megapixels.?

The phone is expected in time for the launch of Windows Phone 7 Series later this year.

GyPSii has announced the launch of Tweetsii - an iPhone app that lets you see who’s tweeting nearby, and also access information on what there is to see and do in any particular area.

Tweetsii hooks in to other location-based networks like Foursquare and Gowalla, letting you access their information, but it allows allows the user to create their own locations and add comments and photos, rather than just “checking in”. At festivals, conferences and events it could be quite useful viewing tweets nearby without necessarily following those people. Future versions of the app will also be able to check in to the Foursquare and Gowalla networks.

Tweetsii is a free download for the iPhone, and it’s available in the App Store now. There aren’t versions for other platforms available yet, but versions for BlackBerry and Android are planned for the future. If you’re desperate to code your own version for your favourite platform, you maybe be able to soon - combining the Foursquare, Gowalla, Twitter and soon-to-be-open Gypsii APIs.

The HTC Desire is turning out to be the mobile equivalent of the village bike - every operator’s getting a ride. The latest to announce UK availability for the handset is Vodafone. The network had previously only said it’d be coming to Europe. Interestingly, that means that it’ll be available alongside the Nexus One.

As previously reported, the HTC Desire offers a whopping 3.7-inch AMOLED display, Android 2.1, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and HTC’s much-liked Sense UI. On top of that, Vodafone will pre-load its “360″ services, including Music and MyWeb. It’ll have full access to the Android Marketplace, too. It’ll land in April.

The operator also confirmed that it’ll be exclusively selling the HTC Legend at launch. That handset, which analysts have described as a replacement to the HTC Hero, has a smaller 3.2-inch AMOLED display, a 5-megapixel camera, and optical trackpad in place of the old trackball on the Hero. That’ll be showing up in April, too.

The only network yet to confirm whether or not it’ll be offering the HTC Desire is O2.

Dolby has released a new audio technology that it hopes will let Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers hear realistic voice communication, complete with surround panning and distance attenuation, at GDC in San Francisco.

Called Dolby Axon, and already available on some online games for the PC, the company is hoping that console games developers will embrace the new audio technology; allowing gamers to have their voices mapped to the game environment as well as producing an improvement in chat quality.

The technology is similar to that already found in Creative’s new World of Warcraft headset, which is to be released in the UK in the next couple of weeks. The headphones, which have been specifically designed for the online game, allow you to enjoy THX surround sound and change your voice to sound like one of the game characters, however at the moment the headset is only available for the PC.

Dolby says that all the technologies combined should allow for improved audio chain processing: like noise and echo suppression for clear voice communication - ie when you’re about to sweep and clear a building.

Sony?has announced more details about its new Motion Controller - The?Playstation Move.

The system, which will go up against the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s Project Natal, will bring motion controller gaming to PS3?users looking for move than just the six-axis controller.

Looking like a darker more scarier Nintendo Wii controller the wand styled device will feature a big ball on the top that glows.

“It’s fast, precise and active,” Sony claims as the company demoed a series of new games that it plans to release in the coming months.

The technology will work based on sensors in the new controller and monitoring those movements with the company’s already available webcam - the PlayStation Eye.

PlayStation Move motion controller, say Sony, delivers unmatched accuracy through its advanced motion sensors, including a three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer, and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor, as well as a color-changing sphere that is tracked by PlayStation Eye camera.

Furthermore, with the PlayStation Move motion controller, users will be able to provide direct input through action buttons and an analog trigger, while receiving physical feedback from rumble functionality and visual feedback from the sphere’s ability to display a variety of different colours. Users will also be able to use the PlayStation Eye camera can capture the player’s voice or image, enabling augmented reality experiences.

Like all other Wireless Controllers for the PS3 system, it comes with a built in lithium-ion rechargeable battery as well as Bluetooth technology, enabling the controller to transfer the?input information wirelessly to the PS3 system without a cable

The Move will be offered in three variants, on its own for those that already own the PlayStation Eye camera, as a starter pack with the controller and the PlayStation Eye, and finally in bundle pack with the console.

In a similar move to Microsoft and it’s Project Natal motion controller tech that sees you become the controller, Sony has confirmed that the starter pack will cost under $100 (?60) in the US when it launches in time for the Holidays.

Sony demoed a number of different games at the GDC press conference including generic a boxing game, golf game, table tennis and a fighting game as well as family focused titles.

Sony say that 36 third party developers and publishers have already signed up to support the new PlayStation Move platform with Sony themselves promising 20 games that are either dedicated to or supported with the PlayStation Move platform.?

Demoes showed gamers having to use either using one and sometimes two controllers similar to the Nintendo Wii remotes.

The second remote control will be referred to as the PlayStation Move sub controller.

Western Digital has announced a range of new My Passport drives specifically for video storage and playback.

The new My Passport AV portable media drives come with 320 GB of capacity and let users simply connect the USB drive to an enabled Blu-ray player or USB enabled TV to watch content with the minimum of effort.

So far that means Sony’s 2010 range of Blu-ray players, some Samsung, JVC and Philips televisions, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PS3 console.

The new drives also support Sony’s Direct Copy feature that lets Handycam users offload and archive HD video directly to a My Passport AV portable media drive without a computer.

“With more and more devices capable of generating and playing back HD video - camcorders, Blu-ray players, game consoles - portable hard drives are the best solution for this 8 GB-per-hour capacity-intensive content. ” says Dale Pistilli, vice president of marketing for WD’s branded products group.?

The new 320GB drive is available now for $109.99 in the US.

Sony?has announced that it has signed a deal with six Hollywood studios to deliver movies to your TV in HD via the PS3.

The company has signed the deal with 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. meaning it is the first to offer films from all the major movie studios direct to your TV via download.

Films already promised include Fantastic Mr Fox, Inglorious Bastards, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and Zombieland.

The news is likely to send widespread panic through video rental firms like BlockBuster and LoveFilm who are already struggling against services like Apple TV, Boxee and Hulu.

Sony has said the new offering will first launch in the US, although has not announced an official timeline for the roll out, but has said that it does have plans to launch in the UK, France, Germany, and Spain shortly afterwards.

The films will be delivered via the PlayStation network,
